What time should I arrive to the ceremony?
We can’t wait to see you and share this special moment with you!!
The official start time of the ceremony is 3:30PM. We recommend arriving no earlier than 3:00PM and no later than 3:15PM in order for you to be seated and settled in before the proceedings begin. Â

What is the dress code?
Our celebration will be a “rustic chic” affair! We invite you to dress in casual rustic attire. For the ladies, flowy sundresses, floral prints, and comfortable dress shoes or boots are perfect. We will be in the NC mountains in fall so an umbrella and covering for your shoulders may be prudent as well. For the gentlemen, khakis or dress pants with a collared shirt is appropriate, and don’t forget your favorite boots or loafers.Â
Feel free to step up or down as much as you desire…..these are only suggestions and more than anything we are eagerly looking forward to sharing our special day with you!Â
Will the ceremony and reception be indoors or outdoors?
We are excited to invite you to join us for a memorable celebration as we exchange vows outdoors surrounded by the pristine natural beauty of the Smoky Mountains with unparalleled views of Nantahala Lake. We will continue post ceremony festivities indoors at Forge Lake Lodge for a dinner reception followed by dancing and other festivities.
In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will remain outdoors but will happen under a covered chapel.
What will the weather be like?
While we are unable to predict the exact forecast, we have researched as much as possible and determined that the weather in Topton, North Carolina in October is humid and mildly cool with average highs of 70 F(21 C) and lows of 48 F(9 C). On average, there is a 24% chance of rain with 11.3 hours of daylight, 62% cloud cover, and a sunset time on October 6, 2024 of 7:11PM. The most useable outerwear in this location during this month of the year is a sweater.
What does the wedding day timeline look like?
3:00PM –Â Guests begin arriving to the venue.
3:30PM – Ceremony will begin promptly at 3:30PM in the magical Nantahala Chapel in the Sky.
5:00PM – Cocktail hour at Forge Lake Lodge. Enjoy a grazing table and drinks while mingling with other guests.
6:00PM – Reception Dinner at Forge Lake Lodge.
7:30PM – First Dance
8:30PM – Cake Cutting
9:00PM – Dancing and Celebration
May I take pictures during the ceremony to post on social media?
We want our wedding day to be filled with beautiful memories captured by both our professional photographer AND our loved ones. You are welcome to take pictures during the ceremony and reception, but we kindly ask that you refrain from using flash photography and keep your seats during the ceremony.
In addition, out of respect for our privacy and the sanctity of the moment, we kindly request that guests refrain from posting photos to social media until after the celebration has concluded.

Will there be other events during the wedding weekend?
As part of our weddingmoon we are eagerly planning fun activities and meals throughout our time at beautiful Nantahala Lake. Although we are still finalizing the details, rest assured we are planning some exciting events to spend time together and make lasting memories. Â
Stay tuned for more information about pre-wedding gatherings, post-wedding brunch, and other festivities. We will update you via our website once all the details are in place. Â

How do I get to the wedding venue?
Our beautiful wedding destination is surrounded by lush mountains, pristine lakes, and is nestled in the small town of Topton, NC. A car is required to access the ceremony and reception areas as well as the activities of the weddingmoon. If you are not bringing your own car then we highly recommend renting one. There is parking available on site free of charge and a complimentary golf cart will be available to transport guests to the Chapel in the Sky who would prefer not to walk.
Are children welcome?
We are delighted to welcome children in our celebration! We kindly ask parents to supervise their little ones and help maintain a calm atmosphere throughout the event. If your child tends to be more energetic or restless, we completely understand(and remember all too well the challenges of the early childrearing years).Â
Nevertheless, in order to ensure a pleasant experience for our guests and even moreso for an exchange of wedding vows that is not disrupted in any way, we respectfully suggest arranging childcare for children at risk for making a fuss. Likewise, if a child unexpectedly becomes upset or loud during the ceremony, we would very much appreciate your understanding and suggest removing the child from the venue to soothe them.Â

What is the best way to deal with dietary restrictions/allergies?
We want to ensure that all our guests are comfortable and well-catered to during our celebration. If you have any dietary restrictions or food allergies, please let us know by clicking on the “contact us” button at the bottom of our webpage so we can accommodate your needs accordingly. We will work closely with our caterer to provide suitable options for you to enjoy.
Will there be an open bar?
We are thrilled to celebrate with you and raise a toast to our special day and we are pleased to announce there will be an open bar at our dinner reception. Â
While we want everyone to enjoy themselves, your safety and well-being are important to us. Please remember to drink responsibly and ensure you have a safe way to get home. Enjoy a selection of beer, wine, and spirits on us throughout the evening. There will also be non-alcoholic options available as well, so everyone can join in the festivities.Â

While we have not reserved a block of hotel rooms(the nearest hotel is a Quality Inn), there are plenty of wonderful accommodation options in the area to suit your preferences. Please visit our accommodations page on this website to see some of the options we suggest. Feel free to explore nearby hotels, inns, and bed-and-breakfasts.

How do I RSVP?
All guests are asked to RSVP online through our wedding website by August 6, 2024. A button for RSVP is available on every page of our site. This is the only method available for RSVPs, and it will help us to keep track of all responses efficiently.
